It offers a wide range of prepaid funeral plans, from low-cost direct cremation through to traditional attended services with limousines and higher-spec coffins.
Co-op Funeralcare is one of the few providers with a comparable range of plans.
We’ve set them side by side in this review. This allows us to highlight what makes Golden Leaves stand out, particularly its affordability, flexible payment terms, and consistently high customer satisfaction.
Golden Leaves – Review
Golden Leaves is one of the UK’s longest-established funeral plan providers, with decades of experience and a reputation for customer service.
It holds a 4.8★ Trustpilot rating (5,148 reviews, Sept 2025), making it one of the highest-rated national providers.
Customers highlight the clarity of information and the reassurance of knowing that arrangements are taken care of.
Wide Range of Plans: The company offers a wide choice of prepaid funeral plans, from low-cost direct cremation through to traditional attended services with limousines and higher-spec coffins.
Unlike some competitors, Golden Leaves also provides International Funeral Plans with cover that extends beyond the UK to parts of Europe, which may appeal to those with family connections abroad.
Payment terms: In terms of payment, Golden Leaves allows you to pay in full, spread the cost over 12 months interest-free, or finance your plan for up to 8 years via Funeral Safe (interest applies on longer terms). This makes them flexible, though instalments always cost more overall.
What’s Included, and Not Included?
Like all funeral plans, Golden Leaves plans have exclusions: doctor’s fees, flowers, embalming, catering, and memorials are not included. Cremation fees are guaranteed, but burial costs are only covered up to the equivalent value of a cremation, meaning families may need to pay additional charges.

Golden Leaves vs Co-Op Funeral Plans
Golden Leaves and Co-op Funeralcare are two of the UK’s best-known prepaid funeral plan providers, both offering a full range of options from simple direct cremation to more traditional attended services.
We’ve compared them side by side because they are among the few providers with equivalent tiers of plans, making it easier to see what you get for your money at each level. While both are FCA-regulated and highly rated by customers, there are some important distinctions in price, benefits, and flexibility.

Key Differences
- Price: Golden Leaves plans are generally cheaper at each tier than Co-op’s equivalents.
- Customer satisfaction: Golden Leaves holds a higher Trustpilot rating (Golden Leaves 4.8★ vs CoOp 4.5★).
- Payment terms: Golden Leaves offers up to 8 years’ finance via Funeral Safe; Co-op offers a wider range of 2–25 years.
- Network & support: Co-op has a nationwide network of funeral homes and face-to-face service, plus member discounts.
- Coverage: Both providers guarantee to cover cremation fees in full. For burials, however, they only contribute up to a set allowance — roughly equivalent to the cost of a cremation. This means that families will need to cover additional costs such as the burial plot, interment (burial), or grave maintenance.
Conclusion
Both Golden Leaves and Co-op offer a wide range of funeral plans, but they serve slightly different needs. Co-op provides the reassurance of a nationwide network and member discounts, which may appeal to families who value face-to-face support from a household name.
Golden Leaves, however, is generally more affordable at every tier, offers flexible payment options up to eight years, and has earned a higher Trustpilot rating of 4.8★ from over 5,000 reviews.
For those looking for clarity, value, and customer confidence, Golden Leaves stands out as one of the strongest choices in today’s funeral plan market.
